Bev Smith say’s – BOYCOTT BP GAS

A few days ago live from London, England activist and comedian Dick Gregory made an announcement on the nationally syndicated, Bev Smith Show.   He urged African American’s and well-meaning whites who drive by any BP gas stations in America and not buy the gasoline. In other words, boycott BP. He also wants us to pass the message on to friends and anyone willing to listen that BP has not operated in good faith when it comes to black people.

Art Rocker, founder of Operation People for Peace, a coalition that advocates for oil spill victims who were not paid organize a delegation with Dr. Dick Gregory, E. Faye Williams, chair of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc.; and Pritchard, Alabama Police Chief Jimmie Gardner. Chief Gardner, told me very bravely that BP had broken the law and breaking its promise to pay over $30 million dollars to blacks who are suffering because of the BP oil spill in the gulf region. He said “if BP was located in his hometown he would arrest the officials”. The administrator of the BP fund, Washington lawyer Kenneth Feinberg is the person who is being accused of telling the most lies to the committee who told stories of blacks who lost everything and are in desperate need of help.

The funny thing about Ken Feinberg is that he promised to pay the blacks, he paid the whites so that they could recover and left the blacks stranded in his promises. Look folks, blacks contribute trillions of dollars to this nations economy and none of our money benefits our community! Boycotting BP right now is something we can do! To show our support for blacks that are suffering in the gulf region we must withhold our money from BP. We need to make a dignity statement. It’s time folks! It is time for us to stop talking and to get involved in creating our own destiny. The BP oil spill destroyed lives! We must let BP know that our lives are just as worthy and as valuable as those whites they paid who suffered the same fate. This has nothing to do with the white people in that region whose lives were destroyed by BP’s greed. This is purely about BP, their greed, their lies, and broken promises to black people. I want you to do 3 things, stand up be counted and get involved and boycott BP, pray at noon everyday until BP does the right thing, and call the fund administrator also known as the man who told the most lies and broke the most promises; Ken Feinberg at 202-962-9280. It is time for black people to stand up against oppression, boycott BP gas until they do the right thing!
